It is the responsibility of the training officer to make sure all fighters on the field are safe and correctly using the Jomsviking fighting system. ALL injuries and the circumstances under which they occurred should immediately be reported to the training officer. The training officer has the final say on whether or not a member is allowed to fight on the field. Training Officers are responsible for arranging training schedules.

Combat - All combat is based upon the Jomsvikings style of re-enactment fighting. Only Viking Age weapons are to be used in training and combat.

Weapons - Weaponry for the Texas Jomsborgelag is representative of the weapons of the Viking Age. All weaponry must be approved by both the Training Officer and the Authenticity officer before allowed in combat. All weapons must be blunted with rounded points and any burs must be removed before they are allowed on the field. Any sharpened knives or weapons must be removed before entering a combat field.

Safety Equipment - Safety equipment is required at all times on the battlefield. The minimum required is:

It is the responsibility of the fighter to be sure he has the proper safety equipment, however, if need arises the Training Officer has final say on whether or not you can enter the field.

Alcohol - Alcohol and any other impairing intoxicants are prohibited before or during all Training and Performance combat. Before imbibing in any intoxicant, weapons must sheathed or stowed away, no exceptions! Violation of this rule will result in expulsion from the Texas Jomsborgelag.

Attendance - All fighters must maintain an acceptable level of attendance if they wish to fight in an event. This consists of at least 8 training sessions per season (four months) and at least 2 seasonal training sessions. We are an elite fighting brotherhood; there are no exceptions to this rule. It is the responsibility of the fighters to know the training schedule, and to alert the Training Officer if they are unable to attend for extended periods of time. A roster will be kept at each training event to keep track of attendance, keep in mind this is for all of our safety on the field.
